Strength

Last night I got a great night’s sleep and headed in to meet my team today for an extended deep clean of our facility and some team building.

At the end of the day my Manager approached me and asked if she could speak to me. She looked concerned. She said that she had a speech that she had prepared last night to say to me, because when she took one look at me on Thursday, I was visibly defeated. She was worried about me and had prepared to say that if that was the cost of our staying open, it wasn’t worth it.

Besides being deeply touched by her concern, what struck me was even more powerful. Her leadership. The strength in her voice. The way she gathered her thoughts and shared them.

It made me so proud.

It also reminded me that my team does need me, and I don’t do anyone any good if I’m not taking care of myself. So tonight I’m doing that. Just had a nice dinner, and I’m about to curl up with a hot cup of tea and some cookies. I’ll get a good nights sleep and spend the next two days really resting, and next week step forth once again into the breach.

Today’s Gracious Gratitude. I am grateful for:

  • My health
  • My team
  • My dogs
  • Home cooked meals
  • Sleep
  • Solidarity
  • People who show up out of nowhere with gifts that cannot be measured
  • New beginnings
